HOCKEY: Wilmslow Ladies’ first team had a convincing win at home against Timperley seconds.
Wilmslow had much of the possession in the first half but went into half-time just 1-0 up with a penalty corner rebound converted by Avril Tucker.
In the second half Wilmslow continued to frustrate Timperley and Lily Harrison scored a second goal again from a penalty corner.
Timperley then had a period of possession that saw them get one goal back at a penalty corner but for the rest of the second half, the Wilmslow team controlled the game with strong passing and movement.
Fiona Ryan scored with a sweet touch past the opposition goalkeeper and Lara Knowles scored from a fine strike at the top of the circle.
Player of the match Lily Harrison completed her hat-trick with another penalty corner goal and a lovely strike from a well-worked move and pass from Fiona Ryan to seal a 6-1 win.
Wilmslow second team travelled to Buckley and won 9-0.
The victory moves Wilmslow to the top of division three having not conceded a goal this season. Ally Davies topped the goal-scorers with five goals.
The third team beat Bowden fifths 10-1. Among the goalscorers were Louise Broome (4) and Becky Eastwood (3).
In division seven, the fourth team had a successful trip to Oxton fourths, eventually celebrating a 3-2 win.
Team captain Kate Irwin scored twice and Sharon Holford scored one and was voted the player of the match by the opposition.
