Eagle-eyed Mancunians are being asked to help unravel a mystery for local historians.
A black and white photograph of a vintage Crossley motor car, which was taken 87 years ago, has been donated for inclusion in a book celebrating Gorton’s centenary as part of Manchester.
The previously-unseen image shows the tourer car, manufactured at the east Manchester neighbourhood’s Crossley works site, being taken on a test run in the area, around 1923.
But the team behind the Gorton 100 book are stumped as to where the photo was taken.
Anyone who can provide an answer is being offered a free copy of the book which charts the area’s history and last year’s centenary events.
It will be launched at an event in Gorton Market on March 27.
If you know where the image was taken, contact Rose Cusack on 0161 231 3532.

You're right. I checked some old photos on the Manchester Archive site and Philips Park's gateposts are in a 'square' design.
