The Salford-based firm has invested a six-figure sum to help Manchester musicians crack the continental market.
The family-owned company, which produces a wide range of `lifestyle' CDs featuring sounds of nature and other easy listening music, is developing distribution centres in the Czech Republic, France, Holland, Ireland and Spain.
Global Journey was founded in 1999 in an out-of-town warehouse by brothers Colin, Peter and Ian Samuels.
It commissions independent artists to compose tracks for CDs which are sold in garden centres, gift shops and pharmacies as well as high street stores such as Next.
It sells more than 600,000 Global Journey CDs every year.
Since they set up the business seven years ago, the brothers have cornered a big share of the UK lifestyle music market as well as securing a US distributor.
Venture
The group, which employs 40 people, said the European venture will boost turnover by 33 per cent to é2.5m.
Managing director Colin says: "There is a huge pool of talented artists and musicians around the world who have never made it big.
"We realised this and plugged the gap in the market, by bringing some of these previously unheard yet talented musicians into studios to record a whole host of new sounds that people can use for relaxing, motivational purposes and entertaining.
"The response has been phenomenal and sales have risen year-on-year since we started."
While you won't find Global Journey's CDs in any of the big music stores, the brothers believe that this has fuelled the rapid growth of their company and is a key reason why they're investing in Europe.
Ian says: "Outlets such as gift shops and garden centres were quick to realise that they could generate substantial revenues through lifestyle music CD sales without jeopardising their core product offering, or losing vast amounts of retail space.
"We've developed a successful sales model, which we're now looking to replicate in other European countries which have buoyant garden and gift product markets."
