ARE you a former resident of Wilmslow who has moved abroad and who wants to get back in touch with people still living in the town? Do you know of friends or family who have moved overseas and you want to try and track them down? Well here's your chance with our new interactive map ...

In this section, we're giving an opportunity for people who were parted when locals decided to make new lives overseas to make contact once again.

If you are an ex-pat, who wants to know the whereabouts of a pal or relative, send us the details and we'll post them up here. The same is true of locals - let us know if you want to get back in touch with a local who has left these shores. You never know - they might just visit this site, read your message and you could be reunited.

Alternatively, ex-pats can write to us simply if they want to let the folks back home know what they've been up to, how life overseas is treating them, and what they miss about Wilmslow.

All you have to do to take advantage of this service is to click here to go to our interactive map of the world , then click on the part of the map where you live. Your own pinpoint will appear which you can move to the exact location you want (use the controls on the top-right of the map to move around and to zoom in and out, right down to street level).

A form will also appear which will allow you to give your name, contact details, reason for moving and anything else you want to share with us.

I grew up on the Spath Lane estate, and went to the Hough Secondary Modern school in Wilmslow. I would like to hear from anyone who might remember me from those days. I left England in 82 to work in Bermuda and moved to the states in 87 and have been here ever since. I have been back to Handforth a couple of times since leaving but couldn't get into contact with my old friends, so hopefully one of them might see this note. E-mail: ericjw@helloworld.com

and then went to hough secondary modern school for boys. after leaving school i joined the merchant navy. in 1974 i met my new zealand wife in sydney australia and married in dec.1974. i now live in her home town of palmerston north and have two married boys aged 25 and 29. my hobbies are soccer,fishing,darts,golf and doing crosswords. i would love to hear from anyone i used to know from either schooldays or living round handforth in the early to late fifties early sixties. I lived in Wilmslow until I turned 18 years old--then went to Birmingham University. After graduating, I ended up in the U.S.

Twenty-five years later, I'm still here.

I came to the site today, only the second time ever, because I was writing something that included a bit about trees in my homeland and wanted to research heritage trees in Wilmslow--particularly any near the River Bollin.

Somehow, I ended up here. Ain't life strange!

I attended Mount Carmel in Alderley Edge from 1970-77, and would love to hear from the former girls in my class!

Greetings from San diego, California. I am one of the few remaining members of the Statham family. My grandfather and uncles ran L Brown and sons next to the station, long before the bypass and built many houses in Wilmslow in the 30s and 40s. I went to schools in Wycliffe Ave and Chancel Lane in the 50s and then Kings Mac ., followed by Oxford. We have been in the States since 1969. I would welcome the chance to exchange e-mails with Wilmslow locals from my era.

Many years ago lived on Lacey Green, the population was then 10,000! Have visited several times, walked along familiar streets, discovered a few people I remembered. The Lonsdales who once owned the George & Dragon. Discovered the crypt at St Bartholmews.
Trying to write my memoirs , (the names will be changed to protect the guilty!!!). There was a family called Sylvanus. The Cleggs amd their large store, Chrichtons. all the shops on Grove Lane? What happened to the Worsleys, Uptons, Baileys, Rigbys,Morgans,Bowers,Aldcrofts to mention afew.The Parishioners of St Teresa's, the old teachers at Chancel Lane School, which I saw no longer exists! The Fish and Chip shops? Since leaving I have lived in Ireland, France and now the U.S. Stayed at the Old Kings Head, which had been renamed. Will probably turn the memoirs into a novel as I recollect some of the intrigues!

Remembered that I have cousins who lived in Wilmslow, may still be there, my Grandmother Sarah Graver;s sister Rose Acton had sons Arthur, Eric and Henry, do not know whether they are still alive though.

I was born in Wilmslow in 1949.
We lived at 22 Hawthorne lane, my grandfathers (William Hyslop) house.I have some early photographs of the house.
. I recall the Bentley which my grandfather drove, the post office not far away, a photographer, Fred Camm, who was a friend of my father and watching Vulcan bombers flying from Macclesfield I believe. I have some memorabilia from Wilmsow including a plaque with a shield showing " Bolyn bowmen". My father was a member of the archery club. We also spent time in Scotland were I have a number of relatives.
In 1960 we came to Canada
and although I have been to the UK several times I have never had the opportunity to return to Wilmslow. Perhaps on the next trip I will try to contact the owners at 22 Hawthorne Lane for a quick look.

I was blessed to briefly live in Wilmslow in 1964 while my dad W. Julian was exchange teaching at Manchester U.
I am looking for Patricia Connelly, Andy Barton, Pete Hothersal and Martin (?). I loved my time there with cows walking past our house every morning. Is anybody out there?

I was at the Hough school in 1970/1971, when my parents lived in Broadwalk road in Wilmslow. I noticed, looking at images of Wilmslow on Google Earth, that the Hough school is not there any more. They've gone and built a dual carriageway right through where it used to be. The 'grammar' school that used to be on the other side of the railway track is still there, but the Hough is gone !
