LANCASHIRE'S Jimmy Anderson gave England's Test selectors a
nudge by claiming three wickets in the opening warm-up game of the
tour of Pakistan.
The paceman, who made the squad for the final Ashes clash at The
Oval but was eventually left out of the team, is battling to
replace the injured Simon Jones when the first Test gets underway
in a fortnight.
And Anderson started well, claiming 3-50 in the first innings
against the Patron's XI in Rawlpindi.
He shared the new ball with Matthew Hoggard but failed to take a
wicket in the second innings.
However, having set the Patron's XI a target of 158, England still
pulled off an unlikely victory by bowling the home side out for
112, with Liam Plunkett and Ashley Giles both taking four
wickets.
