AMATEUR FOOTBALL: Sale FC were up against Moss Side Old House from the Manchester Amateur Sunday League in the first round of the North West Champions of Champions Cup.
Sale got off to the worst possible start by conceding a goal in the first minute of the game.
Chris Howard levelled the match 10 minutes into the second half to take the game in to extra-time during which Mark Hughes grabbed the winner for Sale.
They will now Play Radclyffe from the Middleton Sunday League in the Second Round.
In the remaining first round ties of the Altrincham Sunday League Challenge Cup, there was a shock in the game between Longhey Athletic from the First Division and Vine Tavern from the Premier with goals from Callum Poole, Matt Statham Tom Park, Adam and Shaun O’Connor gave Longhey a 5-1 win.
Kyle Denton and Gary Rowbotham both scored a brace in Broadway Brook’s clash at East Levenshulme while United Services overcame fellow First Division opposition Sale West United 3-1.
In the Premier Division, Old Alts ran out 3-2 winners over Pelican while in the First Division Dane Road Central and Ladybarn shared the spoils in an exciting 3-3 draw.
