IT'S no wonder the directory inquiries services launched after
the demise of 192 aren't making as much money as they'd
hoped.
Not only are they expensive and inaccurate but it seems almost
everyone is ex-directory these days.
There's no point in ringing any of them. This really hampers the
work of us journalists, which, I suppose, most people would see as
no bad thing.
I imagine lots of folk have gone ex-directory because of calls they
were getting from those irritating telephone marketing
companies.
When they call me, I usually say: "You've got a nice voice. What
are you wearing?" That normally does the trick.
