A man who was armed with a kitchen knife in the centre of Altrincham after drinking 15 pints of lager has been jailed for three months while a judge decides what to do.
Gary Grayson, 18, was told he was lucky not to be facing a murder charge after he admitted deliberately getting the weapon from his mother’s home so that he could confront a group of men he had rowed with in a nightclub in September last year.
Judge Bernard Lever said at Manchester’s Minshull Street Crown Court: "You need protection from yourself, and the public needs protection from your crazy behaviour."
Grayson, of Lloyd Gardens, Altrincham, was ordered to spend three months behind bars while his sentence is under consideration.
The case was adjourned for sentence until June 7.
