Sale Golf Club’s annual presentation dinner was another action-packed affair for officials, members, major prize winners and special guests.
Club captain Tony Ball had a busy evening, handing out a glittering collection of trophies to the respective winners with the coveted club championship trophy going to their star Steve Price from Kevin Moore.
Steve also won the Jubilee Plate Gross Prize with the nett Jubilee Plate prize going to youngster Ryan Foley.
The most improved golfer was former captain Derek Chadwick, now in his 70s, and a great year saw him keep in single figures and drop his handicap.
The top team player was vice-captain Andy McLaren.
Other trophy winners were Roger Sallabank in the President’s Prize, John Graves the Aggregate Plate and Brian Peacock took the Life Members Trophy.
Winners of knock-outs were John Russell and Mike Sallabank in the foursomes and Ian Salt and San Russell in the fourball.
In his speech Tony Ball complimented the players on their successes and also for the club, which had made great strides in 2009.
Sale’s men played a team of four stableford and Ross Pippett and Rob Kill led in P Harrison and D O’Carroll to a winning 73 points, one more than John and Ian Russell, Ian Salt and J Grogan.
Sale are hosting a Rules Night on Tuesday, March 9 which will be a fun-filled night run by a top Royal and Ancient official.

Flixton ladies played two 12-hole Stablefords and, in the first, Hazel Clifford was in fine form with 20 points seeing her home from Ann Gollaglee (18).
Jenny Lomax led in the second after winning a card play-off on 18 points with Irene Braithwaite.
Flixton ladies have a few vacancies for two open competitions – a quad-am on Friday, June 18 and a Ladies Open on Wednesday August 18 contact the club on 0161746 7160.
Ashton-on-Mersey’s men were in a Bogey competition and Paul Brough was the main man on +6 from Simon Dewsnip (+5).
Dukinfield professional David Green was ‘Dancing on Ice’ after a great round in the Alliance Shotgun BB Stableford at frost-bound Worsley Golf Club.
The former Denton assistant pro made it back-to-back individual pro victories and shot up the Alliance Order of Merit leader board after a great round of 63 saw him post a superb 44 points with Peter Barber (Didsbury) and Tim Maxwell (Knutsford) next in with 41 points.
Winter golf is now in full flow and will continue at all clubs until next March.
