Hyde United 2
Whitby Town 2
HYDE extended their unbeaten league run to 16 games after a brilliant fightback earned them a point against title contenders Whitby Town.
With a little more luck in front of goal, it could have been three as the Tigers found themselves two down inside the first 14 minutes.
Missing Neil Tolson, Jamie Milligan and Paul Jones, Hyde saw their visitors dominate early on even though Chris Lynch, John O'Kane and Dale Johnson all missed reasonable opportunities.
Town took an eighth minute lead when Nicky Hill and Tim Mullock got in a tangle and allowed Neil Bishop to sidefoot home.
Things got worse six minutes later as an unchallenged Liam Gildea headed in the second.
The Tigers upped the pace in the second half, halving their deficit through a 22-yarder from man of the match Matty McNeil.
Subs Wayne Dean and Craig Buckley made in roads in midfield as Hyde pressed forward and Whitby began to look vulnerable.
With four minutes remaining, it was Buckley who slotted the ball home for an equaliser to give the Tigers a fully deserved point.
Attendance: 371.
- OFF the field, Jamie Milligan has been suspended for three games following his red card at Guiseley.
He missed Saturday's match at Kendal Town, plus the games at Marine and Ossett Town.
Neil Tolson, who missed the match with concussion, may be fit for the weekend although Paul Jones remains doubtful with a hamstring injury.
Hyde officials are reminding spectators a coach will leave Ewen Fields for Kendal on Saturday at 11am, but seats mist be pre-booked with Tony Beard.
If the game ends in a draw, the replay will be at Hyde on Monday, kick-off 7.45pm.
