Relegated Congleton were comprehensively beaten by Curzon Ashton.

The hosts - who dropped from the UniBond First last season - were behind in the second minute as Curzon's Peter Carty netted in the second minute.

Carty then turned provider as he set up Danny Broome for a ninth minute second goal.

Congleton responded with a Darren Baker solo effort midway through the first half.

But it was all over when Craig Fleury bagged Curzon's third on the stroke of half time.
