WERNETH Low’s men played for the President’s Trophy over 36 holes.
Taking the trophy from Low President Colin Rosbottom was two-handicapper Danny Sykes with a two-round gross total of 148.
The runner-up was Gary Cooney on 150.
Day prizes went to Jon Lester (72) and Lynton Mayers (77), with the best 36-hole nett score coming from Stuart Kempt with 137, seven shots clear of John Kuehl and Steve Almond.
Best nett scores in round two came from Mike Delany (70), Lou Arrowsmith (71) and Mike Doyle (72).
A ladies medal at Denton was won by Lady Captain Wendy Pollit with 75 from Steph Oates (82).
Wednesday medal action at Denton saw Les Pattinson as the main man with 65 three ahead of TB Jones and David Watts.
Double competition action at Stamford had a BB Stableford won by James Woodcock and Tony Cavanagh (47) from John and Colin Burke (45).
In a singles medal at Stamford Colin Houghton took the honours with 63, two better than Mike Dooley.
Fairfield’s men were also in double action with a Midweek Stableford. The divisional winners were Stuart Allcock on 35 and Tony Collings on 38.
In the second round of the Autumn Cup there some impressive scores as Jeff Johnson took division one with 62 and Russell Beever went one better posting 61 in division two.
Ashton-under-Lyne’s Cheshire star Steve Barlow showed his class in a singles medal winning division one match with a fine 70-2-68.
Lee Butterworth matched Barlow’s score and the pair will have to replay to decide the outcome.
Joe Wray led in division two on 71 from Peter Haq (73) and there will also be a play-off in division three as Karl Thomasson and Alan Scholes led in with 73.
The Robert Wax Trophy, now in its second year, has found what seems to be a permanent home at Dunham Forest.
With a full Manchester Alliance field of 152 players, it was no surprise that Ellesmere pro Martyn Hamer had a nervous wait in the clubhouse after carding an individual score of 43 points and a score of 45 points with his amateur partner Steve Hindle.
Both scores were good enough to take both the individual Professional Prize and the Pro-Am prize on card play-offs.
Second place went to Cheadle professional Anthony Millar, playing with his amateur partner Nick Fletcher from Lymm, while the Withington pairing of Steve Marr and Kevin Hawkins took third place.
The Am-Am section produced clear winners as the Turton pairing of Steve McDermott and Neil Fairclough finished three shots clear of the field.
Winter golf is now in full flow and will continue at all clubs until March.
