Harrogate Town 2-0 Hyde United

AFTER Saturday’s poor second-half showing against Blyth Spartans, Tigers manager Neil Tolson expected Hyde to bounce back at Harrogate Town on Bank Holiday Monday.

However they never really threatened once they had fallen behind to a 11th minute goal.

Hyde replaced the injured Michael Jones with Eliot Bernstein in goal and the home side did likewise, drafting in Stephen Hernandez.

As it turned out neither keeper was severely tested, although Hernandez did handle well.

Hyde started well but their heads dropped once Rory Coleman’s deflected free kick had given the home side the lead.

Tolson tried different combinations up front, but Hyde never got their passing game together and frequently resorted to the long balls which were easily dealt with by the uncompromising Harrogate defence.

The Tigers could only muster a couple of half chances before Dan Broadbent found himself in oceans of space to put the home side two up.

There was now no way back for Hyde as Harrogate saw it through by taking the pace out of the game and running down the clock to collect the points.

Attendance: 303
