TWO victories in the space of five days lifted Mossley out of mid-table in the UniBond League Division One North.

Having produced a creditable performance to earn three points at Bamber Bridge in midweek, the Lilywhites again took maximum on their points when they travelled to Woodley on Saturday.

The game was effectively as a contest when Mossley scored three goals in the space of eight first-half minutes.

On 18 minutes, the ball fell to Danny Self who hooked a 15-yard shot across the keeper into the opposite corner.

Soon after that, Self earned Mossley a penalty when the referee adjudged that he was pushed in the back, Danny Egan converting from 12 yards.

It was Egan who also scored the third goal following a solo run and finish which the referee’s assistant had initially flagged as being offside, only for the referee to overrule him after seeing that the ball had initially struck a Woodley player before rolling into his path.

Mossley keeper and captain Andy Robinson made saves to deny Salmon and Morris before producing an outstanding save to deny Gary Gee as the hosts also saw a goal disallowed for offside.

Mossley’s fourth goal came three minutes from time when the three substitutes combined as Berkeley made space on the right, finding Fish who layed it into Lee Blackshaw’s path and he volleyed it into the roof of the net.

Woodley managed a 93rd minute consolation when Paul Collins converted a penalty.
