NEWTONHURST and Friends were in volved in an excellent game when they went head to head in the Ashton and Oldham Cricket Alliance last Saturday.

Batting first, Newtonhurst made 151-9 off their 40 overs with Boyle (46), Buckley (23) and Turner (20) all batting well despite Rasheed returning figures of 3-19 for Friends.

Friends, in their reply, needed four runs from the last over with opener Amjad still at the wicket.

A wicket from the second ball left Friends 149-7 with Amjad on strike, having made 66.

However, four dot balls from Stone saw him finish with 2-23 to give his side four points as opposed to two for Friends.

A stand of 217 between Chambers (191) and White (58 not out) helped Radclyffe to a massive score of 317-4 against St Mary’s who were 146-5 at the close.

Sunday saw Europa Exiles make 274-6 at Heyside, Hodgson hitting 111 and Towle 55 while Heyside saw Robinson end with 4-62.

In reply, Heyside were all out for 126, Topping making 30 and Hodgson taking 3-25.
