HYDE Hitman Ricky Hatton is joining forces with five-time women’s world champion Jane Couch in a bid to develop his promotional company.
Having announced the signings of several new boxers to his Hatton Promotions stable last week – including younger brother Matthew – the Hitman has appointed Couch as the company’s boxing co-ordinator.
Hatton has spoken on numerous occasions of trying to crack the promotional side of boxing and working with Couch is one of the first steps along the way.
The pair had jointly staged a show in Bristol before Christmas – featuring local boxer Alfonso Vieyra – but the partnership has become a more formal one.
It starts with Couch helping to organise an eight-fight show at Bristol’s Marriott Hotel on March 14, showcasing some of the West County’s up-and-coming boxers.
Local fighters Danny Butler and Pete Leworthy will be on the bill, Butler defending his British Masters super-middleweight belt.
It is understood that Couch will help to organise and oversee future Hatton Promotions shows around the country.
Matthew Hatton and Olympian Joe Murray – brother of British lightweight champion John – will be in action at a bill in Altrincham on March 28.
An opponent for the younger Hatton is yet to be named, but it is believed that the fight will be a final eliminator for the IBO world welterweight title.
