A MAN terrified an 11-year-old girl by walking into her bedroom in the early hours of the morning after breaking into her house.

Police are hunting the intruder, who went into the house on Knowle Avenue, Ashton at 3am today (Thursday).  He left as soon as the alarm was raised.

He is described as 5ft 5in tall, with a skinny build. He was wearing a black hooded top and black trousers with a white stripe on the side.

Detective Inspector Ged O’Connor said: “The man’s motives are not clear at this stage in our inquiries, but the family has been shocked by his presence.

“I appreciate this incident happened in the early hours of the morning but I would ask anyone who knows anything about it to get in touch.

“I would also urge residents to take some simple steps to keep their homes secure and families safe.

“It’s easy to make it hard for burglars to gain access to your home by keeping windows and doors locked.”

Anyone with any information is asked to call police on 0161 856 9254, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
