BRAMHALL’S under-16 England star Bronte Law added more silverware to her growing collection at the Cheshire Girls Championship staged at Chorlton.
Law, just 14, who was the leading qualifier in the Cheshire Ladies Championships at Royal Liverpool, showed her two-handicap qualities with a round of 76-2-74 to win the championship with her gross score that left her ahead of Ashton-on-Mersey’s 14-year-old Gemma Clews on 81-8-73.
Law’s round also secured her the trophies as the best under-16 scratch score and the best under-14 scratch, again ahead of Clews.
Law is now preparing to be a part of the full Cheshire team to take part in the Northern Counties championship at Heswall.
Cheshire legend Liz Pook, ex-Bramall Park, was on hand to present the trophy for the best handicap score to Georgina Sudderick of Royal Liverpool for her nett score of 68 with Clews again the runner-up on 73 with Emily Andrews of Delamere Forest third on 74.
Cheshire’s new junior girls captain, Jade Evans of Bramhall, was also presented with her badge of office by Cheshire captain Julia Leary.
Law then led the Cheshire team to victory in the Northern Schools championships in Lincolnshire as she took the top individual prize with rounds of 75 and 73 and led her team, including Evans and Abbie Cowlard (Reddish Vale) to victory in the team competition.
The Jodrell Cup at Chapel was won by R Smith with a nett 65, three clear of T Williamson.
Chapel’s ladies played for the Scott Bowl and after a card play-off on 74, Bernadette Staden won from Pam Wilson.
The Appleton Rosebowl competition at Mellor and Townscliffe went to Andy Gee after a cpo on 40 points from Dave Allcock with Mark Curtis a point off the pace.
Medal play at Hazel Grove saw the divisions won by Paul Yarwood (68), Malcolm Trenell (71) and Steven Moult (70).
A 36-hole medal at Stockport had the top round scores posted by Fraser McLachlan (69) and Peter Murphy (68). Murphy went on to win with his second round 74 taking him home on 142 from Jamie Storey (146).
More medal action at Stockport saw the divisions taken by Ben Kay (70) and David Hudson (72).
The Hudson Cup at Romiley was won by Colin Granby on +4 from A Marsden and Rhys Wheeler (both +3).
The Cyril Goodchild Trophy for Bramall Park ladies saw Nicola Williams set the pace with a first round of 72.
Janet Evans led in round two with 75 but Nicola Williams prevailed with a 150 total, a shot clear of Janet Evans.
The subsidiary stableford was won by Marilyn Cope after a cpo on 37 with Jean Neild and Cathy Tate.
Park’s men played for the Secretary’s Kettle and boiling up the winning score was Bob Hobson after a cpo on 66 with David Hulme.
Medal play for Reddish Vale’s men saw the divisions taken by Steve Plets (65), Rob Titterington (68) and Greg Mitchell (74).
Northenden Captain Joe O’Reilly has a few spaces vacant for the club's pro am on Friday August 21.

There are also some spaces available on July 4 for teachers, coaches and volunteers to take part in the Golf Leaders Award Day at Heaton Park.
The course will be led by Andy Leigh of the Golf Foundation and the 14-16 year age group are also eligible to attend.
