AFTER finishing runners-up in the last two seasons, Great Moor under-13s won 19 out of 20 games to finish champions of the 2007/08 Stockport Metro League first division.
The team also reached the final of the Stockport Metro League Cup, and they have just returned from winning an end-of-season tournament in Loughborough.
The team celebrated the season’s achievements with a Chinese banquet at club sponsors Oriental Flavour restaurant in Hazel Grove, which Stockport County manager Jim Gannon attended.
Gannon presented the end-of-season awards, and brought along the League Two Play-Off winners’ trophy to sit on the top table alongside Great Moor’s first division trophy.
Moor’s manager, Graham Cash, said: "The team have had a fantastic season, which has been capped by Jim Gannon’s appearance at our presentation celebration.
"After the week that Jim’s had it’s great to see him still finding the time to support a local grass roots football team.
"Bringing along the play-off trophy made it an extra special occasion for the boys.
"Hopefully next season will also be just as successful for both teams."

Make no mistake, it's not the number of United and City fans in Stockport that is the club's achilles heel, it's the many, many times more Stockport people who have felt no "ownership" of Stockport County.
The more people in Stockport who regard Stockport County as "our team", then not only the more secure the club's future is, but also the bigger and more successful the club can become.
Well done Sir Jim and the club,
