TWO more defeats over the past week have plunged Woodley Sports into bottom spot in the UniBond League division one north table.

In what is becoming an increasingly frustrating season for the Steelmen, they lost 1-0 at Bamber Bridge last Tuesday night and then 1-0 at Radcliffe Borough on Saturday. Borough had been propping up the table going into Saturday’s game.

The two latest results leave recently-appointed manager Ash Berry still without a point since taking over from Chris Willcock. As it stands Woodley will still survive relegation thanks to Newcastle Blue Star’s recent resignation from the league, but if the FA have a late change of heart - as some fear could still happen - then a dreaded drop back into the North West Counties could still beckon.

Woodley host third-bottom Bridlington Town on Saturday in what promises to be another hugely significant fixture with games running out.

Meanwhile, Woodley Sports chiefs are seeking volunteers to assist the running of its club.

Positions available include hospitality hosting, gatemen, stewarding and programme selling.
