DETECTIVES are appealing for witnesses after a man was killed in a horrific car crash in Offerton.
Ryan Bowden, 18, died after the stolen green Vauxhall Vectra he was travelling in hit a parked car on Dialstone Lane, on Wednesday at 3.30am.
The accident woke residents who rushed out to find Mr Bowden, of Kelbrook Close, Offerton, lying on the floor.
A second man was seen to leave the car and police are eager to speak to him.
Resident Bill Whittleworth, 54, was among the first to rush to the scene.
He said: "I heard a crash and looked out of the window. There was a green car at a right angle to a silver parked car across into the road. I saw a man running away between two houses. When I got outside I realised there was a man in the road half under the silver car. Police searched the back gardens."
An ambulance took Mr Bowden to Stepping Hill Hospital with serious head injuries, which later proved fatal. It was not clear if he was driving the car.
Police say the second man walked away from the car and are appealing for him to get in contact as they are concerned for his welfare.
Dialstone Lane was closed during morning rush hour from its junction with the A6 to Lisburne Lane.
Anyone with information can call Stockport CID on 8566740.

You can not say dont feel sorry for him, he was a good friend to everyone including me. people make mistakes and they sometimes end in tragedy. this was unfortunatley one of those mistakes. God bless you Ryan, will miss you so much, R.I.P darling, love u love kerri xxxxx

We have known Ryan growing up, a loveable sod, just didnt deserve to die. People moan about the car, but that can be replaced, Ryan can not !!! R.I.P Ryan
Sorry at your loss, but maybe some good can come from Ryan's death.
Offerton does have a problem with car crime, as a mark of respect to a mate, stop stealing other peoples property.
I agree with N of Bredbury. Don't do the crime if you can't handle the risks involved. I'm sure he WILL be missed by his mates and family but will any of them learn from his mistakes?
BODEN WONT DRIVIN
"BODEN WONT DRIVIN" - What do these words mean? Does not seem to make any sense, is it in English? Would you mind awfully if you reposted your comment, using the correct spelling, punctuation and capitalising correctly. If you do not know how, then I suggest you go back to school instead of stealing other peoples property and ruining peoples lives.
