STOCKPORT stunner Sarah Stone is hoping not to miss out on Miss Manchester this year.

The Bramhall beauty is entering the competition for the second year in a row - after a law exam prevented her attending the 2006 final.

And this time around, the 21-year-old student believes it would be a crime to settle for second best.

Sarah, who left Stockport Grammar School for a law and German degree at Nottingham University, is not one to drone vacantly about donkey sanctuaries and world peace.

"I'm not a bimbo at all," she said.

"I'm in my third year at the moment, so I'm studying German law in Germany - in German."

But there's a glamour side too, as appearances in Hollyoaks will testify to, along with narrowly missing a part in Footballers Wives.

Sarah, of Oakfield Close, added: "My dream is to be in the Royal Shakespeare Company and obviously, competition is so high there, any kind of experience in anything helps."

After coming second out of 25,000 in the Face of Manchester competition of 2004, Sarah went on to enter Miss England competition last year.

But her efforts were thwarted when she discovered she had a criminal law exam on the day of the live final.

She said: "I really hope to go on this year and represent the best city and country in the world.

"I want to do them proud"

Nice... this goes to show that my mate Barry (from London) is wrong - not all stockport women are ugly! Maybe Ms Stone will inspire women in Stockport to lose a bit of weight and get a decent haircut.

It so nice to see that her law and german degree from Nottingham University were able to mould her career into a bit part in Hollyoaks, with dreams of reaching the dizzy heights of footballers wives. It definitely sounds as if she is a very intelligent being, not a bimbo at all.

Barry is right. This girl is reaching for the stars. She could have gone for the easy life on the checkout at Tescos like most other graduates, but at least she's using her best assets to further her career. Hollyoaks is not to be sniffed at.

good luck with everything but the worlds a big place and stockport is a hole infact so is all of england ,use what you have to get out of there. Give it your best shot .Do it for all the girls in those dead end jobs.

Thanks Terry, you're right Hollyoaks is nothing to be sniffed at and I hear that it is a sure bet for the TV Quick awards Serial Drama of the year 2007. Fingers crossed, although I am sure that if Sarah were to join the cast then it would be a sure bet.

I would just like to point out to all the doubters out there that Stockport girls can amount ot anything they wish despite the conception that they either become teenage mums or a more sorted FHM High street honey wannabe.

For too long Stockport girls have been laughed at by the world. They may be largely "plain Janes", uneducated, a bit common and often fat, but if our women can secure bit part rolls in Hollyoaks then the future's bright. Given the amount of fake tan to be seen in Grand Central, the future is also orange.
