A mum says a hair dye left her with scabs and burns on her face and neck – and she is now considering legal action.
Ann Noon has sent a video of the injuries she says were caused by a Schwarzkopf product and lawyers have written to the firm.
The 47-year-old, of Brinnington, had to go to hospital and the emergency doctor for treatment which included nine different types of medication to fight off the infection.
She said: " I want people to be warned what can happen. The next person might not be so lucky."
Ann, 47, said: "It was horrible, my neck was like a balloon, I had scabs everywhere, my ears were dripping with pus and I’m still scarred.
"When it happened, my son was frightened. I looked in the mirror and felt awful. I was embarrassed to go out because people would look at me and think I was dirty."
See video of Ann's injuries below ...
Ann, who lives on Westmorland Drive with sons James, 15, and Dean, 11, has used the brand’s red hair dye for a year without any problems so didn’t do a skin test when she used the black dye.
Kieran Henry, from Henry’s Solicitors, has written to Schwarzkopf asking for the product to be re-tested.
He also wants anyone who has had similar problems to get in touch. Mr Henry said: "Her injuries were horrendous. We want to bring this to the attention of the manufacturer. She is considering legal action."
A spokesman for Henkel, Schwarzkopf’s parent company, said all products were ‘manufactured to the highest quality standards’ and comply with health and safety requirements.
He added: "We are very sorry to hear about the lady’s allergic reaction and hope she will fully recover soon.
"We have been contacted by solicitors acting for the lady. Therefore we prefer not to comment further at this time. Henkel shall offer the necessary support to clarify all of the circumstances.
"The safety and compatibility of our products are a top priority."

Nothing personal, I'm sure you are a lovely lady, but why whould Schwarzkopf need to restest their products? Different chemicals are used in different dye's so even though you have no reaction to the red dye you could have a reaction to the black dye. Always, always patch test.
And this is why hair dyes recommend a skin test EVERY time you use a product no matter how many times previously you've used it.
By her own admission she didn't do the skin test....good luck trying to get compensation!
Anyone can have an allergic reaction to almost anything - that's why the patch test is so important! The hair colour boxes advise everyone to do a patch test every time you colour your hair, even with the same colour as before, and the same brand, as it's possible to become sensitized over time. And with a new colour it's even more important. I feel sorry for this lady, however I think that if she is paying solicitors to take legal action, she will simply end up out of pocket. Perhaps we should thank her though, for reminding us how important it is to do that patch test!
Can we have some new stories please?
Getting bored of this one - they even use the same old soundbites "I just want people to be warned" People ARE warned - its written in big letters on every box
I had the same problem with the Black/Blue dye that they do. I had used the dye previously along with dyes of the same colour by different brands and had no problems. When I used the dye in November 2010 however, I had dyed my hair on a friday morning with the Schwarzkopf branded dye. All seemed fine at first and i had no issued, I had skin tested and had no reaction. 2 days later i had noticed my face start to swell above my left eye, this then rapidly spread down the left side of my face and neck. The swelling was so bad that i could not open my left eye and nobody could recognise me just through the appearance. Along side this my ears, my scalp, my back and my neck were covered in sores which pussed when took and then began bleeding. After visiting a doctor I was sent away witha cocktail of medications to clear up the reaction however this has left scars and i am now unable to use any products on my hair due to my scalp still not having fully recovered.
She won't be able to claim since she didn't do a 24 hr test even though she was changing the colour (and therefore it's a different product). Silly woman!!
If it's done that to her think what it does to the poor animals who it's tested on before it's even approved for human use - unfortunately they're not in a position to seek legal advice.
Live and let dye!!
Read the instructions or just accept the inevitable and go grey.
