Young entrepreneurs are being offered the chance to promote themselves with a free market stall.
The Teenage Market is part of the Screen Stockport Sunday Social event, which is due to be held at Stockport’s Victorian market hall on Sunday, April 1.
Screen Stockport is a short film festival that was put on for the first time last year at The Forum in Romiley.
It was organised by family-run production company Little Wonder Television, and was a great success with films submitted from all over the world.
The Sunday Social is being put together by 17-year-old Tom Barratt, whose parents Rosemary and John run Little Wonder.
It is offering free stalls to teenagers and young people starting out in business, and aims to bring Stockport’s young creative talent together.
Tom said: “Stockport’s market place has real character with some amazing architecture and I think the area has the potential to be a centre for music and artistic creativity just like the Northern Quarter in Manchester.”
There will be a vintage fashion show on the day, in collaboration with the Vintage Village Market and Room at The Top, based above the market’s food hall.
The day will also include live music, with acoustic sets from up-and-coming bands and musicians, and screenings in a Screen Stockport film tent.
“With The Teenage Market we want to give young people the opportunity to come together and collaborate on ideas which will hopefully help build a new creative community in the Stockport Market area,” Tom added.

Surprised Stockport Council hasn't come up with some regulation or breach of rules to put a stop to this yet. They don't usually tolerate people having fun and freedom for very long. No doubt some pen pusher who got sand kicked in their face as a child and now has a grudge against society will be down there soon to put the mockers on it.
waste of time nobody uses the market.
