Thug jailed for assaulting girlfriend

A MAN who spat several times in his girlfriend's face was sent to prison for three months at Manchester Magistrates Court.

Thomas Wych, 20, also grabbed 18-year-old university student Chloe Riley by the throat until she nearly passed out.

Prosecutor Josephine Crisp said the victim was left terrified and is still having nightmares over the attack.

Wych, of Romiley Precinct, Oak Street, Romiley, was convicted after trial of assaulting her in the city centre last September.

Miss Crisp said Wych flew into a drunken rage after claiming that another man was staring at his girlfriend.

When Miss Riley told him she was going home he snatched her bag, spat and tried to throttle her.

During the trial Wych alleged the complainant had made up the story to get back at him.

The court heard that he was in breach of a suspended sentence imposed in Derby for assaulting another girlfriend and would be dealt with at a later date.

Have I got this right? This woman beating coward attacked this poor girl because some bloke was gawping at her. How on earth could this poor defenceless girl help at who-ever decides to stare at her. So because the coward did not have the bottle to kindly ask the other geezer to stop staring, just in case he might get a slap for his trouble. So tough as he may-be he attacks this poor girl instead.
Well whilst in jail he better walk around staring down at the floor all the time because the first time he dare to make eye contact with another con, he may just give him a taste of his own medicine, of which just may even things up a little. I hope Chloe gets over this ordeal and her nightmares and finds some guy to treat her with the love and respect she deserves as a person and a human being. There are some decent blokes out there and hopefully she will find one who will help her put this ordeal behind her once and for all. Good luck.

In Spain there´s zero tolerance for hitting a woman, it carries an immediate prison sentence. You don´t pass GO, you go straight to jail. The same applies to those strange women who thump guys, it works both ways and the judge doesn´t listen to sob stories. As I said, zero tolerance. If a warring couple is the problem, the Judge in a special domestic violence court, orders the couple to separate for say 9 months, this means no contact whatsoever. if they are caught together, they BOTH go to jail. Seems fair enough to me.

If so he seems a little confused, although Sharia law would likely have prevented the incident, as he wouldn't have been drunk, wouldn't have been out in the city centre with a woman he was not married to, and she would have been clothed in such a way to not draw the attention of the other man.

Influenced by Islam? I didn't see that in the report. Have I missed something? Judging from the fact he assaulted a previous girlfriend this is a low life who gets pleasure from hitting women. He breached that sentence which shows how little he thinks of both women and courts. 3 months is far too lenient. 3 years (and I mean 3 years - no remission) would be a starting point. When he is finally dealt with for the breach any sentence should be both custodial and consecutive.
