BRINNINGTON residents can have their say on initial ideas which could potentially shape a future masterplan for the area this week.
Earlier this year Stockport Council appointed consultants GVA Grimley to carry out a detailed study of Brinnington to see how the physical appearance, open spaces and services provided in the area could be further enhanced.
This study included consultation with local residents through a series of roadshows and a display at the Brinnington Fun Day in July.
The key aims of a potential masterplan for Brinnington would be to enhance Brinnington as an attractive place to live and build on recent investments in the area, such as First House and Brinnington Village.
It would also seek to improve housing choices, connections with neighbouring communities, the use of open spaces and the support that the council can offer to get people into employment or education.
The council and GVA Grimley have now reached a stage where they can provide on people's ideas and views collected as part of this consultation.
These exhibitions this week will give residents a further opportunity to meet with council officers and representatives from GVA Grimley and have their say on the different options for Brinnington that are being developed.
The team will be available to explain the process, answer any questions and help people understand what the future impacts may be for Brinnington.
Councillor Sue Derbyshire, executive member for communities, said: "I would encourage people from the Brinnington area to come along to these exhibitions and give their views on these initial ideas, which could potentially shape a future masterplan for the area."
For more information about these exhibitions, contact Chris Parker in the council's neighbourhood renewal team on 0161 218 1446.
The exhibitions will be at:
- First House, 367 Brinnington Road, Brinnington on Tuesday, November 17, from 3pm to 6pm.
- Health Centre, Brinnington Road, Brinnington on Wednesday, November 18,from 2pm to 5.30pm
- Lapwing Centre, Lapwing Lane, Brinnington on Thursday, November 19, from 3pm to 6pm

If anyone in Stockport wants to comment on any aspect of the way things are going to be shaped until 2026, they can.
The consultation is also on the council planning website called “ Core Strategy DPD Preferred Options”, you’ll have to register (free) and put your comments up. You can see what others think too.
This is a very important stage for the people of Stockport, which is not widely publicised and it impacts upon everything around us all.

we all no us stockport residents were the troubles come from i can say it in 3 .
aswood /brinnington/lancashire hill . brinington and aswood by far the worst .if you put good eggs in a basket with bad eggs they will go bad very soon .....so before you go wasting more money redeveliping housing estates...for god sake take the bad eggs out ,,,its commen sence . whats all this we want more green belts and stuff the residents said... god sake man speek up for your selfs ,we want a good place to live and bring up are kids ,we want the dirty theifs and gangs off the streets .the ones who sell drugs to our kids ,and theif who robbs from are home or gardens at night ..brinington has been this way since the 70 s its not changed one bit ...wow its 2009 and face lift here n there..big deal. the people are the same they allways will be . i feel sorry for the few famleys who do have to live there and in aswood .there just is no hope .for me for you or for the kids.its realy sad and a waste of lifes . if you want change ! then make a change for the better but first remove all the bad eggs. that does not meen police start picking on young teanagers ,this meens sort those big men out who supply the kids drugs ,that makes them rob and commit crime in the first place ..build a bigger police station like bridge halls aswood. keep the residents safe . courts hand out big sentances to those who commit bad crimes or sell drugs or the local nutter who likes to beat people for no reson .any way get down to the meetings and have your say .
