HARLEY'S parents want to raise money to help their precious son make the best possible recovery.
They hope to use the cash to pay for the best artificial limbs. They also want their home adapted and the financial security to be able to take time off work to be with him.
Adam said: "To give Harley the best possible chance in life we wanted to get him the best artificial limbs we could buy and that is likely to cost up to £100,000."
His parents have set up the Harley Slack Fund and family and friends are helping. Harley is in the high dependency unit and faces being in hospital for the rest of the year while skin grafts are carried out.
Events being organised include a bike ride from John O'Groats to Land's End.
Michael Hulbert, 22, is one of three friends taking part in the ride. He said: "We want to do as much as we can for Harley because he is not going to be able to do anything for himself.
"He is going to need special adaptations just so he can come and go. He is going to need transport and the type of artificial limbs which will give him the best opportunity of living as normal a life as is possible.
"All donations will help us help the family rebuild young Harley's life once again."
Michael and two friends who have known Adam since school, organised the bike ride.
They will set out from John O'Groats on July 25 and expect the journey of more than 900 miles to take 13 or 14 days.
