ALCOHOL-fuelled yobs went on a violent rampage in Cheadle Hulme at the weekend leaving a trail of destruction in their wake and residents fearing for their lives.
Residents of Ladybridge Road flats, on the corner of Meadway, were enjoying drinks after a barbecue when they were suddenly attacked by 30 drunken teenagers fleeing from the Ladybridge Social Club at 12.30am on Sunday.
Bricks were thrown through flat windows - one narrowly missing a sleeping baby’s head by an inch - car windows were smashed and a man was bottled.
The gang, who had tried to gatecrash an 80th birthday party at the club to the rear, then broke into the hallway of the flats before threatening residents.
Resident, Lee Brooks, 36, said he has been left traumatised since the incident.
"I literally had to fight for my life," said Lee, "It was like a riot out there. I can handle myself but when you’ve got 30 yobs all intent on getting you, and destroying your property, then it puts you in a hopeless situation. My girlfriend has moved out with the baby because she’s terrified."
One woman, who wished to remain anonymous, said residents are now living in fear of reprisal. "Lads were jumping up and down on my car bonnet and smashed both rear and front windscreens," she said. "They were wild and it was like watching a scene from a horror movie - it was carnage. We shouldn’t have to live like this in our own homes. "Everyone has been on edge and two people have even left their flats this week because they are so scared the yobs will return."
Residents have criticised the police, claiming that the officers who attended on Sunday morning have taken no action against the crime.CCTV camera’s have now been installed at the property and residents are calling for a police surveillance team to watch the flats.
Chief Inspector Andy Harty from Stockport Police said: "We recognise that this was an extremely frightening incident, and want to assure people that we are not taking it lightly. Numerous investigations have been launched, and we are determined to find those responsible. I’d appeal to any witnesses to come forward and assist us in this aim. This kind of violence is not something that happens every weekend in Cheadle Hulme. While antisocial behaviour is a problem, and one that we are committed to tackling, we think this vicious, unprovoked attack was an isolated incident linked to an otherwise peaceful party being held at the club. But the investigations into this incident will be comprehensive, and we will deal robustly with the offenders when they are caught."

IDENTIFY THEM...DOB THEM IN...NAB THEM...& BRING BACK THE BIRCH!!
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! - OF THESE BLASTED, DRUNKEN, ANTI-SOCIAL YOBBO'S!!
AND CUT DOWN THE AVAILABILITY OF EASY ALCOHOL PURCHASE - BY REDUCING THE AMOUNT OF (TOO MANY!!) 'BOTTLE SHOPS'!!
SIMILAR 'PROBLEMS' IN OZ!!
