BASKETBALL: MANCHESTER Magic came out with all guns blazing to record victories over Sheffield Arrows and Leeds Carnegie.
First up was a 91-63 win against an Arrows team who have proved to be difficult opponents in the past.
Patrick Dwyer opened with a hat-trick of three-pointers in the first few minutes to give them an 11-5 lead.
Both teams traded baskets for the remainder of the quarter as Magic led 23-15 going into the second period.
With Sheffield struggling on their outside shots, Magic capitalised to open up a 48-32 half-time advantage.
Having beaten Sheffield, Magic then faced Leeds Carnegie in the National Cup third round and came away with a 91-77 victory.
They established a 21-16 lead at the end of the first quarter, carrying on that momentum into the second period for a 44-34 lead.
Leeds were not discouraged though, closing the gap to two points before appearing to tire as they turned the ball over.
A 7-2 run then saw Magic builde their lead to 24 points on their way to victory.
