SCOUTS will be out in force at Broughton Park next week when the club hosts the finals of rugby league’s Carnegie Champion Schools competition.
The finals take place on February 24 and 26 at a time when Park is almost certain to be the home venue for the newly-formed Mancunian Rugby League Club.
Spokesman Stefan Hopewell said: "This is the first time that the event has been held outside of the traditional rugby league areas – even though Manchester is only a few miles from places like Salford and Wigan – and it is an honour to be hosts.
"One of the key components of the development strategy for the Mancunian Club and for rugby league in the city is to bring important events to Manchester and this is the first of several that we hope to attract.
Everyone concerned with the club is looking forward to seeing the finest schoolboy and schoolgirl rugby league talent on show in South Manchester."
Three finals take place on both the 24th and the 26th with admission free for under-16s and £2 otherwise.
