CHORLTON Golf Club assistant professional Matt Sellors is ready to face new golfing challenges after successfully passing the coveted PGA qualification.
The 23-year-old joined Chorlton as a junior at the age of 10 at the start of a distinguished junior career which saw him become junior captain seven years ago and drop to a low, single-figure handicap.
Under the tutelage of Chorlton professional David Valentine, Matt took the plunge into pro golf and qualified as a full-fledged professional.
Back at Chorlton their ladies played a 14-hole competition and Matt’s mother Jane was a comfortable winner with 25 points, the score by which T Golds won a men’s seven-club Stableford.
Withington’s men played a betterball Stableford, George Kerruish and Bob Carr winning a cpo on 35 points from Graham Cusselle and G Jones.
A mixed Texas Scramble at Withington saw the hot trio of B Farrow, A and I Stewart first past the post on 31.1.
It was tight at Northenden in a betterball Stableford with junior M Abu and G Aspinall winning a cpo on 32 points from P Dickinson and S Gough.
A Roll Up at Didsbury was won by John Kirk with 40 points.
Didsbury’s ladies played a singles Stableford and Judith Howarth led in with 28 points.
Due to the success of their 2008 winter opens for teams of four, Mottram Hall are staging an extra one on Friday, January 23 with opens also in February and March.
