GENEROUS golfers at Chorlton helped to swell the funds for the captain Peter Parmeshwar and lady captain Ina Aspinall’s chosen charity of Christian Aid.

A charity night at the club saw a four-figure sum raised as Aspinall, using a signed Ricky Hatton glove, and Parmeshwar, reviving his cricketing past with a signed bat, ensured there were plenty of bids for the items up for auction.

Chorlton ladies played their ‘major’ Brook Cup final and Debbie Wilson came through to win by 2/1 against Pat Daly.

The junior captain’s final at Chorlton saw Cameron Massey win with a two round total of 143.

Chorlton’s men played their Autumn meeting, incorporating the vets prize, and Trevor Golds won a cpo on 65 from Alistair McMurray.

The handicap medal final at Northenden saw Mersey champion Dave Nelson emerge with a convincing win after posting 67.

Former local cricket star Francis Collins was the top dog in the vice president’s cup at Didsbury as his 65 saw him home.

The best gross came from Nick Sutton, who won the Young Cup, and captain Derek Dooley was top vet with 69.

The summer medal final for Withington’s ladies was won by Chris Killeen on 77.

Withington’s men played their sixth Summer medal and the divisional winners were David Hunter (68), Andrew Dunn (69) and Frank Beswick (69).

Marple once more hosted the Manchester Alliance competition for the Glenmuir Cup.

The main prizes were won by Blackley’s dynamic duo of Julian Robinson and Alan Lane after a superb 44 points late in the day.
