A FULL field of over 130 players was in action as the Manchester Alliance resumed its winter season at Wychwood Park.
In the pro am, Warrington assistant professional Graham Cox partnered club amateur Matt Fryer to an impressive winning total of 42 points.
Next in after winning a cpo on 39, were Chorlton assistant pro Matt Sellors (pictured), with his best Alliance finish and Liam Harrison from Will Bell and Fraser McLoughlin (Davenport).
Shrigley Hall again dominated the am am section with Paul Bishop and Mike Powell top of the tree with 40, two ahead of club colleagues Brian Hopkins and Graham Sutcliffe.
Back at Chorlton, their men played the latest round of the Winter Par competition, and in division one, Barrie Lomax won after a cpo on +3 from Lester Walsh and Nigel Wood.
Billy Butt also posted +3 to win division two from David Boynton and Cliff Milne (both +2), while Peter Van Schaefer led in division three on level par from Chris Ruthven (–2).
Didsbury’s men played a greensome Stableford and Mark McAndry and Adrian Russell led in with 42, well clear of Chris Cyprus and John Aikenhead (39), and Paul Dalby and John Chapman (36).
A pro’s competition at Northenden had D Shingler winning a cpo on 30 points from G Aspinall.
Withington’s men played a singles Stableford and evergreen Bill McKinney led in division one after winning a cpo on 35 points from Gerard Wood.
David Cragg was top man in division two on 38, one clear of Neil Bulleid, Gary Unsworth and Paul Austin.
Andrew Schaefer won a tight contest in division three after a cpo on 36 with Alan Longden, with Phil Hill and Paul Higgins a point off the pace
Former Wolves and Burnley footballer Steve Kindon has been announced as guest speaker at the Manchester and District Golf Alliance’s annual dinner.
