The Annual President’s Day at Whalley Range Cricket and Lawn Tennis Club on Kingsbrook Road in Chorlton will be held on Sunday July 3.

All are welcome to attend and it begins with a Dads v Lads (under-9 and under-11) cricket match followed by a Past v Present players match from 2pm. On the tennis courts there will be an American Tennis Tournament, which is social tennis for all standards, followed by a barbecue.

WHALLEY Range under-14s began their cup campaign with a comprehensive thrashing of Sale.

Range racked up 164-0 with all of their top batsmen retiring after scoring 30.

Then the Range second string bowlers restricted Sale to 79-4.

The under-14s also played Hale Barns and restricted them to 108 and were 80-2 off 12 overs when rain ended play.

Callum Simmons was the star with 76 not out and two wickets.

The under-13s beat Ashton-on-Mersey after restricting them to 84 and the younger players in the team steered Range home to win off the last ball.

The under-11s were well beaten by Alderley Edge and the under-nines’ game waspostponed but more good news came with the selection of Osman Butt for the Lancashire under-12 squad.
