DIDSBURY took another big step towards the league title and the Cheshire County League Premier Division with an easy win over local rivals Cheadle who now looked doomed to the drop into division two.

Cheadle had little answer to the variety of the Didsbury attack as Adam Windle (4-28) and skipper Paul Sperring ripped out the top order, while Peter Manser finished the innings off with 2-5 as they were skittled for a meagre 93.

Didsbury made short work of chasing down the target with John Mason (27) and Marcus Fisher (22) making sure there were no slip-ups.

Sperring (18 not out) then steered them over the finishing line with plenty of overs to spare.

Didsbury’s seconds were frustrated at Urmston after setting the home team a target of 196.

Matt Marfani (46) was the top Didsbury batsman with Mark Slater (42) and Andrew Pearce (36) providing excellent support.

However, the home team made little or no effort to go for the runs as they settled for a bore draw, dragging themselves to 136-4.

Division two saw Burnage beaten by Mobberley in a high-scoring game for the second time this season.

Burnage were put in and were reduced to 35-2 as the ball seamed around early on.

Mohammed Kamran (44) and Israr ul-Haq (45) both continued their good form, but it was Syed Abbas’ 85 that helped Burnage to post 244-7.

Mobberley openers Lennon (67) and Locke (47) grafted through a probing first 10 overs before upping the rate and putting on 128 in 33 overs.

The penultimate over was decisive as Mobberley scored 13 of the 18 runs required before wrapping it up with a boundary three balls into the final over to finish on 248-5.

Burnage’s seconds got the best of a draw with visiting Mobberley.

Burnage posted 216 all out in 49.2 overs before Mobberley replied with 180-6 in a rain-reduced 48 overs.
