WHALLEY Range maintained their great run of results with a fine victory against Wythenshawe at Longley Lane.
Wythenshawe batted first, knowing that has been their weakness as they seek to climb away from the nether reaches of the Manchester Association Premier Division table.
They duly compiled their most substantial score for many weeks as they ended on 162-7, Paul Burrell top-scoring with 34 while Paul Davies took 3-42 and Neil Cusick 3-48.
Range had a reasonable start in reply as they reached 60-3 before Vilas Cutty dominated proceedings with some superb strokeplay.
Although Luke Morley’s dismissal left Range on 119-5 with nine overs left, Davies ensured Cutty had plenty of the strike as his unbeaten 65 took Range to 164-5 with two overs remaining.
There was some success for Wythenshawe’s seconds as they shrugged off the absence of skipper Colin Pierce to win by 75 runs at Euxton.
Ian Jones hit 66 as Wythenshawe were all out for 158 before Craig Stone took 5-23 and Chris Bradley 3-18 as Euxton fell to 83.
South West Manchester produced a creditable performance in a high-scoring match against Stretford.
Chris Turner struck 110 as Stretford closed their innings on 272-5, Khalid Mahmood proving South West’s main man with the ball by returning figures of 2-42 with the ball.
Mahmood was then at the heart of his side’s reply, striking 42 as they ended on 252-8, Narinder Gonga top-scoring with 50 while Jhangir Abbas and Adil Javid both made 34.
The reverse fixture at Ellesmere Road was a high-scoring affair with Sajid Nazir (87), Steve Madden (38) and Adam Watkins (35 not out) taking South West to 214-9.
Although Chandrasik (90) and West (59) went for the win in reply, Ian Larkins’ 7-50 saw Stretford all out for 201.
