Salford man arrested after student's hair hacked off in Fallowfield street

A man has been charged by police after chunks of a student’s hair were cut off as she walked down a busy street.

Officers began investigating after Jessica Wright, 19, was attacked as she walked along Wilmslow Road in Fallowfield.

Darren Dixon, 48, of Gore Crescent, Salford has been charged with two counts of assault. He is due to appear before magistrates in Manchester on November 14.

Police said the charges relate to two separate incidents – on Wilmslow Road on September 26 and at Asda in Trafford Park on October 26.
