A mum who assaulted a police officer at her son's primary school while high on a cocktail of booze and drugs has walked free from court.

Nichola Jane Greyo launched a foul-mouthed tirade and kneed an officer in the groin after being told she was too drunk to collect her son.

Mum-of-four Greyo, 36, had alcohol, cocaine and opiates in her system during the attack - in the reception area where other parents picked up their children.

It took two officers to restrain the defendant, who also tried to bite them and told them to “f*** off”, the court heard.

Greyo, of Old Moat Lane, Withington, had pleaded guilty to a public order offence and assaulting a police officer during an earlier hearing at Manchester Magistrates' Court at an earlier hearing.

She has now been given a 12 month community order with supervision and ordered to attend a six month alcohol treatment programme.

Greyo first became aggressive at Green End Primary in Burnage on January 20, when the head teacher said she could not take her child home 'because of the state she was in'.

Sean Brady, prosecuting, told the court: “It happened at around 2.55pm, the busiest time for the school.

“The school believed the defendant to be drunk. They had concerns about the child she had come to pick up.

“The head teacher decided it was unacceptable for the child to go with her considering the state she was in.”

A member of staff called the police, and two officers arrived.

Mr Brady said: “She was angry and her voice was raised. She said to the police, 'I've done nothing. I can't believe they called you'.

“The officer tried to take hold of her arm, and his colleague tried to put handcuffs on. She kicked one of the officers to the shin and called him a c---. She then kicked an officer in the groin with her knee.

“They managed to get her to the floor, but she was still struggling.”

Blood tests at the police station found levels of cocaine, opiates and alcohol in her system, Mr Brady added.

Suzanne Dooley, defending, said: “The police officer suffered minimal injury.

“You can see from the report there has been a lot going on in her life recently, and she has a problem with drinking.”

Greyo, who was told to take her hands out of her pockets when sentenced, was also ordered to pay £85 costs and £50 compensation to the officer.
