A UNKNOWN American singer unwittingly caused chaos after being mistaken for a superstar, following a performance at a Levenshulme school.
Sixteen-year-old Taylor Bright happily performed for the pupils Alma Park Primary during a promotional schools tour on Monday (February 2).
But little did she know that while see was entertaining the youngsters at the Errwood Road School news of her impending visit to Liverpool was causing havoc in Merseyside - after the city's daily newspaper confused her with Grammy award winning American superstar Taylor Swift.
The concert organised there had to be cancelled over fears that thousands of unexpected fans would turn up.
But to children at Alma Park it was a storm in a teacup, after Taylor Bright wowed them with her inspirational performance.
The singing hopeful, who comes from Philadelphia, performed three songs including 'Striped Socks', which she plans to release as a single.
She then took part in a question and answer session with pupils at the Errwood Road school.
Key Stage Three manager Jackie Murray said: "All the confusion with Taylor Swift went over our heads - we knew she was Taylor Bright all along!
"The children really enjoyed her performance and even got to have a go at dancing with her.
"In the question and answer session she told them about how she had started in musical theatre and gone on to write her own songs.
"It is always nice to have talented youngsters coming into the school to inspire the children."
Taylor Bright had also been due to perform at a Liverpool primary, but the school was forced to cancel the concert after the Liverpool Echo mistakenly billed her as Taylor Swift, a country music superstar.
Swift was in fact at the Grammy Awards in America, but the school still cancelled over fears thousands of her fans might descend upon them.
The confusion left young Taylor Bright bemused but grateful for the extra publicity.
She said: "I was really disappointed when the mix-up in Liverpool meant that I couldn't go ahead with the schools visit but the kids at Alma Park more than made up for it! They were so enthusiastic and welcoming and I now think the confusion was quite funny really. I hope to be as big as Taylor Swift soon!"
Pupils from Alma Park later left messages on Taylor's Facebook profile to thank her for the visit.
Kike Adenowo wrote: "You came to my school today. You had a great voice. Please come back!"
Fellow pupil Qassim Umran added: "You were brilliant."
