SWINTON Lions coach Paul Kidd is in transfer talks with ‘two quality players’ as he looks to make his 2009 squad ‘even stronger’.
Kidd already has 26 players signed up for next season and he says that he is ‘delighted’ with the make-up of his squad.
But that has not stopped him from entering into negotiations with an outside back and a front rower.
Kidd said: "I am talking with two quality players about them joining us. One plays for a Co-Operative Championship club and the other plays for a Championship Two club. We will see how those talks go. If we sign the players they will make our squad even stronger. And if we don’t get them it won’t be a big issue as I am already delighted with the squad I have for next season.
"We have 26 players signed up, which is plenty. But, when you get the chance to improve your squad, you should always try to take it. That is what is happening here."
Swinton will play Oldham in Wayne English’s Testimonial match at Sedgley Park on Sunday, January 11, 2009. And the Lions will visit Whitehaven on Saturday, January 24, in their only away pre-season fixture. Both games will kick-off at 3pm.
