KARATE: THE adults took the limelight from the cadets for once as Eccles Karate Club enjoyed their most successful ever Ken Yu Kai National Championships.

The club took six adults to the event at Eccles FitCity and they picked up 15 trophies between them.

Chief instructor Ricky Birchall, who saw his students claim 27 medals in total, said: "I am over the moon with this great achievement and I am particularly pleased with the adults. In most of the competitions we enter it is the cadets that come out on top but this time it was the adults’ turn."
