More double glory

De La Salle under-11s

YOUNG footballers at De La Salle could be forgiven for having that Déjà vu feeling following another double, double at the junior football club.

The under-11s and the under-13s have both repeated their league and cup double successes of the previous season.

Under-11s manager Sean Williams said: "I am so proud of each and every one of the players.

"They have achieved so much together after two De La Salle teams merged and I knew that they would do well this season.

"We have now won three successive league titles and, after so much success in the Salford league, we have decided to try pastures new and to take on some new and fresh challenges."

Ross Temple, who manages the under-13s along with Andy Birch and Derek Adams, said: "As coaches, we couldn’t have asked for any more from the players. They are a credit to themselves and the club – clearly putting Salford junior football back on the map."

As well as doing a league and cup double, which they have now done for three successive seasons, the under-13s also retained the Manchester County Cup this season.

The Timperley league side have only lost one game in three seasons of competitive football – and that was via a penalty shootout as they failed in their bid to reach this year’s Tesco Cup English national final.
