United ride past Horse to win cup

GCJ UNITED are celebrating after beating White Horse 2-0 in the Eccles Sunday Football League’s Carr and Hume Trophy Final.

They lifted the trophy at Monton Amateurs’ Granary Lane ground thanks to a Robert Watmough strike and Mike Littler’s last minute victory sealer.

Clifton won the Premier League in a nail biting finish winning 4-3 on penalties in the play off with Salford Celtic after the game ended 0-0 at full time.

Penalty scorers for Clifton were Gaz Davies, Jack Taylor, Colin Rowbotham and Jake Wood. Dave Coffey, Chris Wilde and Richard Hodkin hit the penalties for Salford Celtic.
