I'll beat Ronaldo

WINTON wonder-kid Anne-Katherine Crockett has scored 34 goals this season and hopes to beat her hero Cristiano Ronaldo’s impressive haul

WINTON wonder-kid Anne Katherine Crockett is on target to beat her hero Christiano Ronaldo in the goal-scoring stakes.

The 11-year-old super striker has already banged in 34 goals this season and with a cup final in the offing she hopes to top the Manchester United’s star’s impressive total.

AK, as her mates call her, may have an unfair advantage over her idol, as she plays for three different teams - her school St Gilbert’s Primary, Monton Amateurs mixed under-12s and all girls side Westbury Gems.

And when she’s not banging them in, she’s keeping them out, as she also plays in goal for her school on occasion.

Westbury Gems are preparing for a league cup final, with AK keen to get the four goals she needs to catch Ronaldo who currently has 37 in all competitions.

She said: "I honestly think I can catch him up and it would be really good to do it in the cup final for my team.

"Ronaldo is my hero, I love the way he runs with speed and the way he controls the ball is brilliant. I try to copy some of the skills he does and to play like he does.

"I support United and he’s my favourite player, so to score as many goals as him would be really good.

"All my friends are proud of the amount of goals I’ve got and my dad reckons I’ll hit my target."

Dad Kevin, although not a football fan, reckons his daughter’s got what it takes.

He said: "I prefer Formula One, so I don’t know where she gets her love of football from! But we’re really proud of her and I think she will beat Ronaldo’s goal tally".
