Rain delayed the start of Irlam’s Lee’s Lancashire County League game and the game was shortened to 40 overs a side.
Irlam were put into bat by their visitors Prestwich who are the present league leaders and Joe Quinn made his usual aggressive start.
He struck two fours from the first over and with Sahid Abbasi comfortable there were hopes for a competitive score.
However, from 34-1 the Steelmen crashed to 67-6 although Jason Gleave and Imran Jamiel took the score to 92 but with the loss of that pair the innings just folded and they were all out for 93.
In reply Prestwich never looked in trouble as they eased their way to pass Irlam’s total for the loss of only two wickets.
Irlam second XI’s story was very similar.
Travelling to Prestwich they were put into bat and only Scott Payne (20) reached double figures as they crashed to 79 all out.
In reply Prestwich seconds lost only one wicket in passing their target.
