An amateur darts player is aiming for the bullseye after turning professional.

Peter Hudson, 25, turned pro after only playing darts on the 501 big boards for the past three years.

The former St Patrick’s RC High School pupil said: "I started playing darts at around 18 years of age but always on the traditional smaller Manchester Board.

"I played for the Park Hotel, Morning Star and Ellesmere pubs all in the Eccles area and last year I played for Little Hulton on the big board in the Super League."

Peter, of Monton, was on the verge of being selected for honours with Lancashire County but decided instead to turn pro.

He added: "My aim is to keep in the top 96 of the PDC by the end of 2010 and, after last weekend in Swindon I am currently ranked in the middle twenties but there are 44 PDC tournaments around the world so there is a long, long way to go."

Peter currently practises around four to five hours a day based at his uncle Tony Hudson’s pub, The Ellesmere in Winton.

Tony said: "We are all hoping that it’s a great year for Peter. He started really well and will hopefully be appearing on some of the Sky televised tournaments later in the year. Bill Leonard Trophies in Eccles has been a big help and Tuckers Solicitors are on board but if there are any potential sponsors they can contact me Tony on: 077562 17981 or 07772 403295. Your support really would be appreciated."
