A red-faced politician has fallen victim to the most modern peril of Twittering under the influence.
Coun John Warmisham was on holiday in Cyprus when he accidentally sent private messages meant for his girlfriend to his public account on the micro-blogging website.
One of the messages read: “Chatted up by Hungarian 2night who had foil red heart but no t**s.”
Another read: “Bak @ hotel, me, the gypsy and a bottle of Old Puteney.”
As a result, the 50-year-old children's services boss says he's been the butt of more than a few jokes by fellow councillors.
The messages have since been taken down and the Langworthy councillor admitted he was more than 'embarrassed'.
Mortified
He said: “I was absolutely mortified when I realised what I'd done.
“I couldn't believe it, so I took them down straight away.
“I was on holiday and I was supposed to be sending messages on a private Twitter account, but I did it on my councillor one.
“They were supposed to be private chats between me and my girlfriend and everyone's having a right laugh at me now.
“I was with my mate, who is called Gypsy, that's what he's been known as since he was at school, so it's not racist or anything like that. He's one of my best mates.”
The gaffe was immediately seized upon by the rest of Salford's Tweeting community.
Steve Middleton, Liberal Democrat activist, said: “Looks like there could be some 'twitter-regret' from Councillor Warmisham - I think the lesson here is: Do not Twitter/email/text/blog after beer.”
Conservative councillor Iain Lindley said: “Looks like @cllrjwarmisham is about to learn the perils of tweeting after a few beers... “

I wonder, do they really want that, or have you just made that up? (actually I don't wonder very hard, because it's pretty obvious isn't it).
So, it looks like you're a socialist and you're deceitful. Would I be right that you're a bit of a miserable failure in life as well?

How pathetic for this thought to even go through his mind.

The tories in worsley campaigned to have a pub closed down which it did, when new owners came they campaigned against it reopening, it now has, the Lib dems as well a pub on the Height was closed because of an incident which started far away from this pub but ended there, this pub is still shut with support of the local Lib dems. The Tories were against Media City, and Port salford and now they are arguing about Salford reds New ground, all of which are creating jobs in salford.

I am possibly one of the most honest people you could meet with very strong morals, I am also such a miserable failure that I am a director of three different companies in Salford creating employment for my fellow Salfordians, and with above average wages as well. I also have a season ticket for manchester united who I travel abroad abut 6 or 7 times a year to watch thats real failure for you.

However campaigning to close down one troublespot pub is quite a different thing from what you were implying with the more general "want to close down pubs".

That is complete and utter nonsense you have posted. The conservatives did not campaign to have a pub closed down, which I understand you are referring to the Bridgewater Hotel. The local residents , after a number of years of serious problems, asked for licence review in order that the place could be closed so it could be revamped. The problems included vandalism , drug-taking/dealing, serious anti-social disorder, etc. It did close and reopen as a more community focused place, and certainly nobody - resident or politicians, 'campaigned' against its reopening.
The pub on the Height, the Dog and Partridge, was not closed because of "an incident" but because of two serious shootings in the space of a short period of time, involving customers from the pub. On top of that warnings were previously given from the police about concerns they had at the premises. The pub was not closed indefinately and could have re-opened as a pub, but the owners decided it was too much for them and it has now been sold for future use as a doctors surgery.
The this is a pity as at one point this was the best place on the Height, but the owners did not feel they had it in them to turn the place round, and they were gven the chance. Following the closure of the Oakwood some years ago, again down to bad management/owners, it now leaves us residents in the Lancaster Road/Height area , with a very poor choice of about 4 public houses, none of which could touch the Oakwood or Dog in their heydays.
