A woman went on a £46,000 spending spree using a Premier League star’s credit card details.
Daryl Louise Harrison, 21, blew the money using the account of former Wigan footballer Mido, who now plays for West Ham.
Over four months, Harrison, from Salford:
- Treated six friends to a dream holiday at Dubai’s luxury Atlantis Hotel at a cost of £8,000;
- Bought expensive clothes, furniture and a £2,000 laptop;
- Spent £5,800 on dental treatment;
- Splashed out another £9,000 on travel.
It is understood that Mido, 26, realised that his credit card account had been raided after he opened bank statements at his home in Egypt.
He called in police before fraud investigators from his private bank, SG Hambros Ltd in London, uncovered Harrison’s scam.
There is no suggestion that Mido, real name Ahmed Hossam, has ever met Harrison, of Moor Lane in Kersal. It is so far unclear how his bank details were obtained and then accessed. The card had not been reported lost or missing, police confirmed.
Harrison is thought to have carried out the fraud solely through the internet using a mailing address in Bury. There were 10 frauds in total, which span between April and July last year.
She attempted to buy an £8,000 watch and take friends on pampering and makeover days in London, but those transactions were declined.
She also enquired about driving experience days in high-powered sports such as Porsches.
Harrison pleaded guilty at Bolton Crown Court to 10 counts of fraud. The court was told that she will also ask for further similar offences to be taken into consideration.
Harrison who has a previous conviction for swindling £6,000 from her own mother, was remanded in custody to be sentenced next month after pre-sentence reports were ordered.
Police will also seek to recover some of the money through the Proceeds of Crime Act, possibly by selling some of Harrison’s expensive clothing and fashion accessories.

Actually its been all in the sport pages a few weeks ago. He is on just £1000 per week at West Ham (whilst on loan) to try and galvanise his career in the premier league.

And it shouldn't matter a jot what he earns, the theft of so much money should mean an immediate custodial sentence if she has pleaded guilty.
But I'm with the hard labour option, then she may well realise that crime doesn't pay. A cushy life in prison will not change her attitude.
