THE number seven is certainly going to be lucky for seven charities when an intrepid businesswoman visits the seven wonders of the world in seven days in a bid to raise £777,777.
Chi-chi Ekweozor, 30, of Blackburn Street, Trinity, is planning to take seven of the tourist world’s wish lists in a whistlestop charity trip.
On September 9, Chi-chi, director of east Manchester-based internet TV and media consultancy Real Fresh TV will be setting off to Rome on a marathon trek, taking in the Coliseum, before going to Petra in Jordan, the Taj Mahal in India, and then on to the Great Wall of China, Machu Picchu in Peru, Chichen Itza in Mexico and the giant Christ the Redeemer statue in Brazil.
In the process she aims to raise funds for seven charities, the one closest to her heart being the Jessie Ekweozor Foundation, set up in memory of her grandmother.
Chi-chi said: "I had just returned from my grandmother’s funeral in Nigeria earlier this year - she died from Altzheimer’s - and happened to be watching Secret Millionaire.
"I was moved to tears seeing the story of an elderly man caring for his wife who had Alzheimer’s and the memories of what my gran went through before she died came flooding back.
"I had read about the challenge to see the seven modern wonders of the world in seven days and decided to put the two things together.
"I know it’s a massive physical challenge to see all seven wonders in seven days.
"I will be crossing multiple time zones but I’m willing to do it if it raises money and awareness for the seven challenges I’ve chosen."
As well as the Jessie Ekweozor Foundation, an education foundation in Nigeria, Chi-chi will be raising funds for the Alzheimer’s Research Trust, Diabetes UK, Open Doors, British Red Cross, Young Minds and Feed The Minds.
