A MAN has been charged after a woman was raped in Salford.

The charge comes after  50-year-old woman was attacked and raped by a man who offered to show her the way to Salford Precinct after she was waiting at a bus stop on Eccles Old Road early on Sunday 17 May.

The man led the woman along Eccles Old Road, across Langworthy Road and into the subway under the A580 East Lancashire Road.

He threatened to kill her and then raped her.

Joseph Gorman, aged 34, of no fixed abode, is charged with three counts of rape and is due before Salford Magistrates' Court on Thursday (21 May).
